Singing for SET
An Evening of Song
Like the individual notes that shape a melody, people together can create an event that resounds mightily. The Cawthra Park Secondary School Choirs Benefit Concert for SET was such an event.
A joint committee from two Mississauga United Churches, First United Church, Port Credit and St. Stephen-on-the-Hill Church organized “The Evening of Song” held on April 30, 2016. Both choirs, Les Belles Classiques, an all-women’s choir, and Cawthra Park Chamber Choir, a mixed choir, donated their time and talent to raise $8000 for the children of Togo.
Sherri Collins directs the women of Les Belles Classiques while Bob Anderson takes charge of the Cawthra Park Chamber Choir. These choirs have had experience singing with The Rolling Stones, the Elmer Iseler Singers, and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
On this Saturday night they raised the roof at First United Church, Port Credit in order to literally raise the roof for another SET school in southern Togo.
